Aug. 5th is World Oyster Day, the best day of the year for oyster lovers all over the globe. Celebrating the oyster brings us a lot joy as we farm millions of oysters every year and get to be a part of creating a sustainable food source. The Fanny Bay Oyster Bar will be celebrating with a ton of seaworthy specials. You’ll be able to try some incredible cooked and raw oyster deals all day long. Chef Chris Andraza is preparing The Oyster Trio (fried oysters, oyster Rockefeller, and oyster casino all on one plate; $12), Angels on Horseback (bacon wrapped oysters on a crostini; $12), and Oyster Fritters (jalapeno, oyster, corn fritter with cheddar beer sauce; $9). Our happy hour will include $1 Fanny Bay Oysters, $5 Fanny Bay Oyster Stout, and well as half priced fried oysters! All of this celebrating is for a cause of coarse. We will be donating 10% of our oyster sales that day to the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program!

“We are hoping to shuck over 1,000 oysters in that one day,” says Issac Martin Del Campo, General Manager of the oyster bar. We will have 8 to 10 different types of oysters in the oyster bed for the event, with our classic Fanny Bay Oysters being the star of the show. Issac Martin Del Campo will be featured in a “how to shuck the perfect oyster” segment on Global TV Morning News at 7:45am.
